She’s a homebody at heart, but when the music calls, she answers. Katera is a soulful singer-songwriter known for her sensual blend of modern R&B with acoustic pop, hip-hop, and gospel. With sultry vocals and lush harmonies, her music channels a calm confidence and often draws comparison to artists like Erykah Badu, Aaliyah, and Brandy.

Her magnetic debut album, Fear Doesn’t Live Here (2022), reached number 13 on the iTunes R&B charts. The breakout single “No Phone Calls,” quickly dubbed the “Homebody Anthem,” went viral in early 2023, earning over 360,000 streams and nearly a million views for its boundary-setting message of solitude and self-care.

Hailing from Dixiana, a rural community on the fringe of Columbia, South Carolina, Katera was raised on gospel, cassette tapes, and 106 & Park. She began writing songs and playing piano at a young age, and by her teens, was directing her school’s gospel choir, and producing original music. Her early love for layered harmonies and storytelling became the foundation for a sound that is ethereal, warm and sonically rich.

More and more, she’s been referenced as ‘Storm,’ a nod to the striking gray hair she began embracing after the release of “No Phone Calls.” It reflects the intention behind her artistry, to show up real, rooted, and unapologetically herself. Since releasing her first single In Love With The DJ in 2012, Katera has cultivated a distinct voice that has earned her a growing audience and major recognition. In 2025, she was selected as a PRS Pulse Artist, joining an elite global roster of 137 standout guitarists chosen for their musicianship and growing influence.

Her music leaves listeners feeling seen, empowered, and more connected to their own rhythm. Stay tuned for what’s to come. The next chapter promises to be just as resonant.
